My album, which for a myriad of reasons took me over 2 years to finish, is finally done.
The first single, “Going Through it all”, is out today! Initially inspired by a breakup with what I then thought was the love of my life, it has since grown in meaning. The experience damn near tore me apart and broke me down, to such a degree that it made me face myself and my demons on another level.
The title, “Going Through it All”, represented at the time the roller coaster of emotions it took me through; grief, loss, despair, shame and self-hate, to name a few. And it lasted for quite some time.
I was then re-minded of the Wheel of Life, Samsara, which added to the meaning of the track. It represents the cycle of suffering we go through, in this life and across multiple lifetimes, until we finally learn the lesson the universe tried to teach us and break free from the cycle.
There are many lessons, and many cycles. This was one of them for me. Whether I’ve learned my lesson remains to be seen, but I’ve definitely grown from the experience, and worked with myself to the degree that a lot of my insecurities seem to no longer be there.
A part of the healing process has been to lean into life and build trust. To trust that life gives and takes according to what is meant for me, and meant for you.
There’s no escaping yourself and your emotions. When an experience is causing a lot of negative (or positive) emotions, the only way to alchemize and integrate that, is to sit with it, and GO THROUGH IT ALL. It’s not easy. It can be a lot of fucking discomfort. It can even feel like dying. And in some sense it is. It’s an internal death and rebirth into something new.
The track “Going Through It All” is out now on Bandcamp, and this time I’ve even made a Radio Edit for those too impatient to dance through a 9 minute track (what?!). A Radio Edit which is probably too long for radio anyway lol.
